What do you think of the role of culture in climate change / moving towards an ecological age?
Culture and the arts can supply the setting and the impetus for people grasping change in a way that facts and rational scientific argument so far seem so powerless against.
Who are your favourite artists/ filmmakers / other cultural 'actors'. Add links if possible
Whoa! Too many to list...
What is your biggest concern re. climate change?
On a political level, the influence of senior politicians and the lack of media coverage of grassroots change. On a social level, overcoming environmental procrastination http://www.perditaphillips.com/zombie-environmentalism/. On a practical level, being able to communicate that there will never be a one-size-fits-all solution, that in fact it is the coming to terms with action in the face of complicity/complexity is the greatest strength to carry within oneself.
What is your biggest inspiration re. climate change?
wildness (not wilderness)
I could give more practical or specific inspirations but that would be an essay in itself.
What do you think you can do to help prevent / minimise climate change?
Develop cultural change models and practices through contemporary artworks. Prepare the ground for acceptance of change -- or rather, the grasping/embracing/incorporating/embodying of change by individuals in society! Working with resensitising people to the nonhuman other — from ecosystems to microbes.
