Engaging the cultural sector in creating an Ecological Age
My art & ecology notebook documents a SLOW ART forest project. It's an ongoing diary in images, short films & conversations between myself, foresters, our local community & beyond, detailing an example of how we are turning our small monoculture spruce plantation in south Carlow into an ecologically & economically sustainable real FOREST.
You'll also find info on my previous work on community forests in Co Leitrim with Jan Alexander, (Crann founder and now President of Pro Silva Ireland) -'the Local Project'; & links to other eco-art works that inspire me & which may be inspire others.
I am also a member of Pro Silva Ireland, a branch of the EU wide Pro Silva organisation which promotes, permanent ecologically & economically sustainable FORESTRY. Learn more at www.prosilvaireland.org

- What is your biggest concern re. climate change?
- Its not all about climate change, we have to recognise the inherent unsustainability of the industrial growth economy that is grossly affecting species loss, nitrogen cycle, oceans, and climate.
- What is your biggest inspiration re. climate change?
- Individuals like the late Wangaari Mathai -Green Belt in Africa, Educating and mobilising a nation about pro-active forestry to bring sustainable wealth to a country, against so many cultural, and political odds.
- What do you think you can do to help prevent / minimise climate change?
- Help disseminate information on cultural policy on how to move cultural actors to an ecological way of life, so that such ideas are injected into society from many angles, in Ireland.

Recent Culture|Futures event in Sao Paulo, South America with Key Cultural Institutions, 30-31 May 2011
Over 180 participants attended the very successful and widely received 2011 Sao Paulo Culture|Futures conference, assisted by many partner organisations.
