WELCOME TO THE CULTURE | FUTURES NETWORK

NOTICE if you wish to attend the upcoming Culture|Futures Durban Event in South Africa: After becoming a member of this network, please goto the Durban Conference notice on the 'Events' page (see tab above left) and click the RSVP button if you wish to attend or alternatively send an e-mail to info@culturefutures.org

A very warm welcome to members who joined at the inaugural launch of Culture|Futures in Copenhagen in 2009 and to new members from around the world.

At the end of the first Culture|Futures inaugural event in 2009 a framework was set out to grow the Culture|Futures iniative worldwide and details can be read on www.culturefutures.org. Culture|Futures events have since occurred in HongKong in 2010, and in Sao Paulo earlier in 2011 and Culture|Futures will be part of the COP17 events in Durban, South Africa.

With a very modest team of volunteers, Culture|Futures has an ambitious vision for the immediate and near future and you can help in your part of the world.

The Culture|Futures Vision for 2014 is:

  • that over 1000 institutions around the world working with culture have agreed to change their future daily practices to become sustainable by achieving economic benefits, optimizing resources in cultural production, exploring new creative content inspired by rethinking nature/ecology and by building new mindset in  communities and city/region by communication with audiences.
  •  at least 100+ major popular cultural institutions around the world achieves results  to be recognized as ‘eco-leader ambassadors’

All Members are invited to share ideas of sustainable cultural production and practices to this network.

We envisage that the Culture|Futures Network will grow as both an informal space to continue conversations from meetings and a become a valuable resource of leading examples and ideas of sustainable and inspiring cultural practice and production.

Please then feel free to share this network's content and activities to your on and off-line networks, put the Culture|Futures badge on your sites if you like.

In time Culture|Futures would also see that 'Groups' may be set up for national events and specific cultural activities. Groups can now be set up in different languages.

Please note, while this network site is set out in English, there is a Google translate feature on the site  (on the right) - Google translate might not be perfect but we hope it will be a means so that you can connect with others using other languages.

Please do invite others to this network and share the news about Culture|Futures. We can all help engage the cultural sector to lead and inspire us into an Ecological Age.

Thank you!

The Culture|Futures team
